Two days ago PCU published allegations by Bell Pottinger [public relations with close links to government] about ‘managing reputations online’:
“David Wilson, chairman of Bell Pottinger Public Relations, mentioned a team that could “sort” Wikipedia and a presentation shown during the meeting said it could “create and maintain third-party blogs” – blogs that appeared to be independent. These would contain positive content and popular key words that would rank highly in Google searches.”
Today’s Financial Times reports at length that Wikipedia has suspended 10 accounts associated with Bell Pottinger, the firm at the heart of a dispute over lobbying industry ethics, on suspicion there mayhhave been a breach of its editing rules.
